COAST TO COAST EXHIBITION

“This new collection includes around thirty coastal inspired works - memories of shingle beaches, creaking jetties and weather-beaten boats. It being me, I couldn’t help but add a few still-life pieces too, but most of these also make a passing reference to a coastline close to my heart. Since moving to Sweden twenty years ago, my subject matter has slowly but surely taken on influences from coastlines I have known. From England’s eastern edge to the south coast of my childhood holidays and many years living in Brighton, to Stockholm’s archipelago, Sweden’s west coast and beyond. And so to Padstow. One of my goals whilst there is to make some paintings in situ and complete the exhibition with new work influenced by the rugged Cornish coastline.” John Button
