Ian Rawnsley

Ian's artistic journey has been one of land to sea, his early years in a land-bound midland town always included regular family holidays always by the sea. The passion for the environment would be developed and enhanced as he would later study geological sciences unaware that this connectivity with nature and coastal landscape would lead to rekindling a passion in painting.

Art is both a narrative and expression and his often physical style in oil powerfully expresses the energy of the sea. Experimenting with styles, genres and materials is an important aspect to his work, constantly looking for new approaches to augment his work whether with mixing media, incorporating original music, or through the addition of the written word.

For many years when living in England Ian has spent much of his time in west Cornwall and his first gallery to show his work professionally was in St Ives.
