When I was at Art College I was commissioned by St Paul’s Walden Bury to paint for The Queen Mother and personally presented her with the painting on her Birthday.
Justine spent her early years in St Agnes, Cornwall a place that continues to inspire her today.
She comes from an artistic background where all her life she has been involved in various forms of art expression. She moved to London to study Printed Textiles at Middlesex University from which followed a very successful career at one of London major textile design studios.
Justine continued with her true passion of painting and since leaving textiles many years ago has continued to enhance her reputation as a professional painter and artist. Her work has been exhibited at galleries all over the UK and has had many successful exhibitions and commissions, most notably for established interior designers and even royalty.
Justine has always found herself drawn back to Cornwall's coastline and describes her own work as often focusing on the interactions of natures elements, on her and her emotional & physical connections with the area. This has formed the subject matter of the majority of her work over many years now.
Throughout her style, colour and texture is always paramount in her approach.
Bath Contemporary described her work as, 'a combination of rich colours, which contrast with delicately drawn images. Her free use of oils, acrylics and other mixed media gives her work a textured layered appearance in order to create depth and a sense of space. This all contributes to a very unique and compelling style of painting'.
